Fish fillets (any firm white fish like tilapia,

cod, or catfish) - 500 gramsLemon juice - 2 tablespoons

Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoonRed chili powder - 1 teaspoon (adjust to taste)

Coriander powder - 1 teaspoonCumin powder - 1/2 teaspoon

Garam masala - 1/2 teaspoonGarlic paste - 1 teaspoonGinger paste - 1 teaspoonSalt - to tasteRice

flour or cornflour - 1/2 cupSemolina (optional, for extra crispiness) - 2 tablespoonsOil - for deep fryingFresh coriander leaves - for garnishOnion rings and lemon wedges - for

servingInstructions:
Preparation of the Fish:
Clean the fish fillets thoroughly and pat them dry with a paper towel.Marinate the fish with lemon juice, turmeric powder, and salt. Set aside for about 15-20 minutes. This will remove any fishy odor and enhance the flavor.Marinate the Fish:In a bowl, mix the red chili powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, garam masala, garlic paste, and ginger paste.Apply this spice mixture evenly on both sides of the marinated fish fillets.Let the fish marinate for at least 30 minutes, or for better results, keep it in the refrigerator for a few hours.

Coating the Fish:On a plate, mix rice flour or cornflour with semolina (if using). The semolina adds extra crunch to the fried fish.Lightly coat the marinated fish fillets with the flour mixture, ensuring an even layer on all sides. This will give the fish a crispy texture when fried.Frying the Fish:Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat.
The oil should be hot enough, but not smoking.Gently place the coated fish fillets into the hot oil. Do not overcrowd the pan; fry in batches if necessary.Fry the fish until golden brown and crispy on both sides. This should take about 3-4 minutes per side, depending on the thickness of the fillets.Once done, remove the fish from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil.
Serving:Garnish the fish fry with fresh coriander leaves.Serve hot with onion rings, lemon wedges, and your choice of dipping sauce or chutney.

Tips:Ensure the oil is at the right temperature. Too hot will burn the fish, and too cold will make it oily. For a healthier option, you can shallow fry the fish in less oil or even bake it at 200°C (400°F) for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway through.

Enjoy your crispy and flavorful fish fry!
